Position Summary:  The Patient Transport Coordinator (PTC) is responsible for coordinating all AMERIMED transports out of the contracted facility each day, as well as any/all in-bound transports to contacted facility as applicable. The PTC will work at the Command Center located inside Phoebe Putney Memorial Hospital in Albany, GA. The PTC will coordinate, plan, direct and dispatch units for Phoebe related transports working within the Amerimed Computer-Aided-Dispatch (CAD) system and in close coordination with AMERIMED MEDCOMM (via phone/computer/two-way radio).  Builds relationships with all departments within the contracted facility (including Emergency Department, ICU, Med-Surg Floors etc..).  Understands the level of care needed for transportation of patients (ALS, BLS, Specialty Care). Familiar with paperwork required to accompany patient and crew required paperwork in accordance with Patient Accounting requirements. Works closely with the Command Center’s leadership and staff to ensure the relationship between Amerimed and the contracted facility is in good standing. Performs other duties related to customer service as directed.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities: 

  • Works closely with Command Center staff to ascertain the needs of ambulance service for the day, and updates Amerimed’s CAD as well as AMERIMED MEDCOMM and plans/coordinates dispatch of units accordingly.
  • Coordinates daily transport at the contracted facility including arranging of orderly and timely transports with contracted facility, AMERIMED MEDCOMM center, and Operations Field Leadership.
  • Assists in ensuring the procurement of all paperwork needed for transport. This includes documentation that is patient associated for the receiving facility and all crew required paperwork in accordance with Patient Accounting expectations.
  • Ensures Command Center leadership and staff are kept informed of daily staffing, scheduling, and operations.
  • Arrange daily transports to meet the needs of the customer on any given day based on the need and necessity for timely transport.
  • Ensure all departments in the contracted facility are kept abreast of the estimated time of arrival of Amerimed units for scheduled transports.
  • Attends any meetings (intra hospital) regarding transportation, or as directed by Command Center Leadership or Amerimed Operational Leadership.
  • Participates in EMS events sponsored by the contracted facility.
  • Directs any customer questions, concerns, or issues reported to him/her to Amerimed Division Manager.
  • Always maintains security and privacy of all company and patient information in accordance with HIPPA and all other local, state, and federal regulations.
  • Performs duties in a professional manner in accordance with Amerimed Standard Operating Procedures and “As It Should Be” standards at all times.
  • Works with Division Manager to ensure that all field staff maintain a high level of customer service when dealing with facility staff, patients, patient families, co-responders, other healthcare providers and the public. Provides immediate feedback to operational leadership if a deficiency is identified.
  • Reports to assigned shift on time, properly groomed in proper dress, unless the proper notification has been made.
  • Responsibility for the training of back-up or fill in staff for this position, with approval of Amerimed Division Manager.
  • At all times sets an example of professionalism and leadership for others to follow. Places patient care excellence and safety above all else.
  • Performs other duties as directed by management.

 

Minimum Requirements:

  • High School Diploma
  • Driver’s License
  • EMT certification
  • BA/BS degree preferred
  • 2 years EMS experience
  • 2 years EMS Dispatcher experience preferred
  • The ability to reach, push and pull
  • The ability to sit or stand for long periods of time
  • The ability to walk up and down stairs without difficulty
  • The ability to walk one quarter of a mile without difficulty
  • The ability to complete all job duties during all hours of the day or night

Qualifications:

  • EMS, Healthcare or Business-related certificate or degree
  • Ability to properly perform job responsibilities as listed
